There’s a story I know; maybe it’s an urban legend, but that isn’t the point. A shabbily dressed man and woman met with the President of Harvard University and said they wanted to honor their late son, who had gone their, with a donation. The President was too busy and important to entertain them–he thought they couldn’t do much for him and so dismissed them brusquely. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford were offended, and went on to establish their own university to honor their son–Stanford University.
The moral of the story is that you can judge the content of a man’s character by how he treats those who can neither do anything for him, nor to him. Or in his opinion, can neither etc. By this test I find Donald Trump wanting. Extremely wanting.
You know who can’t do anything FOR you or me, or TO you or me? You know who doesn’t vote and doesn’t have a voice? You know who Donald Trump would like to stomp all over? Or maybe shoot in the head with his Second Amendment?
Helpless animals, that’s who. Please donate to your local Humane Society today. Wild animals, animals in shelters, in fact all of life deserves our compassion. Come on. You don’t want to be re-incarnated as a dung beetle, do you?
